Hallelujah! We Can Now Test Our Omega 6:3 Ratio At Home And Improve It With Confidence

Key Concepts On This Page:

  • The Omega 6:3 ratio in RA patients corresponds with CRP levels. Lower 6:3 ratio = lower inflammation
  • We can now test our ratio and home at low cost. This was previously impossible, but is now available worldwide.
  • The target 6:3 ratio is 3:1 which is very difficult with diet alone
  • We can use an algae oil (not fish oil) to improve our 6:3 ratio dramatically within 4 months
  • Supplementing algae EPA/DHA does NOT increase inflammation, even if other oils do.

Stuck With Persistent Rheumatoid Arthritis Inflammation?

Inflammation that goes on unresolved results in more and more joint damage. We need to get this inflammation under control. The impact of ongoing Rheumatoid Arthritis is a reduction of quality of life.

Unresolved RA inflammation has a major impact on our happiness levels, our financial status and the interaction we have with others.

We must do everything in our power to reverse inflammation! Diet, exercise and medications are excellent strategies, but can rarely get us to the ideal Omega 6:3 ratio.

Omega 6:3 Ratio In RA Patients - A Predictor Of Inflammation

The science on supplementation for RA is strong:

- A 2017 study on RA patients showed that when Omega 6:3 levels were reduced the patients experienced lower disease activity score (DAS), number of tender joints and VAS score.

- A 2018 study on RA patients showed that the Omega 6:3 ratio was directly associated with unacceptable pain and long-term refractory pain.

- A 2002 study reported that a ratio of 2–3/1 suppressed inflammation in patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis

Supplementing Omega 3 - An Often Overlooked Strategy

The review of the science on Omega-3 supplementation and Rheumatoid Arthritis 2020 provided a strong report in favour of Omega-3 supplementation

"Omega-3 fatty acids seem to prevent or attenuate experimental arthritis. They may have a beneficial effect in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Clinical studies have shown that omega-3 fatty acids may have a modulatory effect on disease activity, namely on the number of swollen and tender joints. It appears that omega-3 fatty acids may modulate disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis".

Fish Oil vs Algae Oil

Evidence suggests that plant-based algal oil is a viable alternative to fish oil supplements as a source of omega-3. An open-label randomised pilot study comparing the two supplements found that both significantly increased % DHA levels. Interestingly, the percentage change in DHA levels over the 2-week trial period was significantly greater in the algal oil capsule group compared to the fish oil group. It has also been reported that supplemented microalgae DHA can reduce disease activity in RA patients.

Why Algae Oil Is Anti-Inflammatory And Not Pro-Inflammatory

With RA it's sensible to fear oils and high-fat foods, especially when the body is highly inflamed. Even the short-chain Omega-3 rich foods like flax, flax oil, walnuts and chia seeds are usually best set aside when you are inflamed. This is because only roughly 10% of these consumed oils end up being converted into useable long-chain fats for your cells (most is used for energy and storage). As a result, a high-fat intake may be need to make notable improvements, and a high-fat intake has other downsides with RA (such as increased oxidative stress, increased enzyme-demands, bile acid production and more).

By contrast, taking the long-chain Omega-3 algae oil bypasses the body's requirement for the multi-step conversion process and presents the cell membranes with the exact molecule that it needs to build and repair in adequate quantities to get inflammation reduction

4 Simple Steps To A Better Omega 6:3 Ratio

Step 1 - Know Your Target

For Rheumatoid Arthritis the ideal Omega 6:3 ratio is 3:1. Diet plays a large role in this, but getting to this level is very difficult without supplemetation

Step 2 - Order your Omega 6:3 ratio test

Start with a home test to determine your ‘before’ state then test again after 4 months and compare results. It takes 4 months for the human red blood cells to completely turn over.

Step 3 - Supplement

Each Omega-3 bottle lasts about 1 month. The supplement can be taken with food or on it's own. The lemon vegan option is delicious and has no fishy taste whatsoever.

Step 4 - Compare Before And After Results

After repeating your test you will receive a comprehensive comparison report. Independent testing from over 100,000 blood samples reveal that 95% of users are able to bring their Omega 6:3 ratio into a range of 3:1 within 4 months. The chances of improving your Omega 6:3 ratio (and therefore inflammation) are extremely high.
